meublounge @ mini-barcamp Vienna

On Friday, 15th May 2009, the meublounge team attended the mini-barcamp for creative people as part of the "Fake it till you make it" festival.

During a 15 minute session we had the chance to present our vision and started a discussion on various aspects of design participation and user expectations. Not being able to answer all questions the discussion continued very lively after the end of the official sessions. Getting so many different responses and questions is a clear sign for us that meublounge is a polarizing idea at the state of the art.

Main areas of discussion:

  • Participation in design competitions – all for the money?
  • Participation without formal education or deep understanding in design
  • Dealing with intellectual property
  • Production partners and terms of delivery

Thanks to all participants for the different insights and suggestions and many thanks to Meral Akin-Hecke from digitalks for inviting us to this event.

    meublounge wins MINGO Award

On Monday, 20th April 2009, Mingo (sub-organization of the Vienna business agency) awarded promising small enterprises. meublounge was awarded with the Mingo Award for innovative organizational structure and social dimension and was selected by an expert jury out of 110 participating enterprises. The award was handed over by the vice-mayor of Vienna Mrs. Renate Brauner.

For us, the award is a clear sign that meublounge's vision is valued by experts and that public authorities and business partners are supporting our efforts. We would like to thank everyone who participated in our beta phase and helped us with valuable feedback!

Other awarded enterprises: Digitalks, Veronika Persche, Hannovermarkt, Radlager and HeelDice
